As a student, I am always looking forward - forward to the next semester, to graduation, and to when I can finally have my own classroom. But today, I'm looking back... on my childhood... and I would like you to do the same.
Is there anything from your childhood that you wish you still had? Maybe a favourite game, a close friend, or even a feeling? My answer to this question, albeit materialistic, is something that I used to play with for hours and hours... and hours: my
Ninja Turtles action figures.
This isn't a picture of my collection, but these are the exact ones that I had. My collection had pretty every character imaginable - all four turtles and their different themed costumes,
April,
Splinter,
Shredder,
Bebop and Rocksteady - and I even had their
party van. I used to take those things with me everywhere - to bed, outside, swimming, on vacation - I mean
everywhere. They were such a big part of my life. It's funny how something so small can have so much meaning in a child's life.
About five years ago, my mom told me that all of my turtles were sold at a garage sale. Needless to say, I was beyond upset. Even though I wouldn't play with them now (actually, I can't make any promises!), I would still get a sense of joy from them... just a different kind. The kind that reminds me of a simpler time when all that mattered was planning the next adventure that me and my turtles would go on.
